Uncoil

Terms of Use

Effective 6 September 2026 · Last updated 8 September 2026

Uncoil is general wellness and fitness information for golfers. It is not medical advice, it cannot examine you, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. Use it as a starting point, not as a substitute for a doctor or physiotherapist.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the maker of Uncoil ("we", "us"), an independent app made in the Netherlands. By installing or using Uncoil you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

2. What Uncoil is

Uncoil is an educational tool for golfers who want to look after their back. It contains a 3D model of the swing, a questionnaire that suggests mobility and strength exercises, guided warm-up and cool-down routines, an exercise library, an injury-prevention guide and a personal log. All of it is general information written for a general audience.

3. What Uncoil is not — not medical advice

Uncoil is not a medical device and is not a healthcare service. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis, a treatment, a prescription, a clinical assessment or a professional opinion about your body. No doctor–patient or clinician–patient relationship is created by using it. The exercises are not personalised to you: the app cannot see you, cannot examine you and does not know your medical history, however specific its suggestions may look.

Always seek the advice of a qualified physician, physiotherapist or other health professional with any question about a medical condition, an injury, pain or an exercise programme. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read or saw in Uncoil.

4. Stop and get help

Exercise carries risk. Stop immediately and seek professional or emergency care if you experience any of the following, whether or not you were using the app at the time:

See someone — do not push through

Before you start any new exercise programme — and especially if you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, currently injured, or living with a heart, bone, joint or neurological condition — check with a health professional first.

5. Your responsibility

You use Uncoil at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety. Move within a comfortable range, warm up, use a stable surface, and stop any movement that hurts. Sharp pain is a signal to stop, not to push harder. You are responsible for judging whether an exercise is appropriate for you today, and for getting professional clearance when you are unsure.

6. Your data

Uncoil collects nothing. Your plan, log and preferences are stored only on your device, and deleting the app or clearing site data removes them permanently. The one exception is feedback: if you write a message on the Feedback screen and press Send, that message is delivered to us anonymously, and by sending it you allow us to use it to fix and improve the app. See the Privacy Policy for the detail. Keeping a copy of anything you want to keep is your responsibility — we have no backup, so we cannot restore anything.

7. Licence and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Uncoil for your own non-commercial purposes. You may not sell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the app or its content; reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly allows; remove or obscure any credit or licence notice; or use it in a way that breaks the law or harms others. Using Uncoil to give health advice to other people as a professional service is not permitted.

8. Intellectual property and third-party content

The app, its text, design, illustrations and code belong to the maker of Uncoil, except for third-party components used under their own licences. The 3D anatomy geometry is adapted from BodyParts3D, © The Database Center for Life Science, used under CC BY 4.0; it has been decimated, re-rigged and re-coloured for animation, and it depicts generic adult reference anatomy, not you. The full notice is in ATTRIBUTION.md. Open-source libraries remain under their own licences. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its content.

9. Availability

Uncoil is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no purchase and no advertising. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time, and we are not obliged to keep any feature, exercise or piece of content available.

10. No warranty

Uncoil is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the information is complete, current or correct for your situation, that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that using it will improve your pain, your mobility, your golf or anything else.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, aggravation of an existing condition, loss, damage or expense — direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary — arising out of your use of, or inability to use, Uncoil, including any decision you make on the basis of its content. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is nothing.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you; the rest still does.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of your misuse of Uncoil or your breach of these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page with its effective date. Continuing to use Uncoil after a change means you accept the new terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of the Netherlands have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that if you are a consumer you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection law there.

15. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable provision is applied as closely as possible to its original intent.

16. Contact

Questions about these terms go through Feedback in the app, or the form at backswing-dkg.pages.dev/feedback. Messages are anonymous, so include everything we need in the message itself.
